Overview
The FMC-GEBX series Media Converter complies with IEEE802.3z, IEEE802.3ab Standards It is designed to convert data signal between 10/100/1000 Base-T and 1000Base-X Gigabit Ethernet through one optical fiber. The converter is WDM single core fiber optic connector (transmitting-TX and Receiving -RX are in one fiber cable),
It supports 10/100/1000Base-T and 1000Base-X applications. The data signal converted by such high performance media converter can be transmitted up to 100km maximum by single-mode 9/125um fiber-optical cable from RJ45 Cooper Cat.5 network cable. It is support plug&play easy to use, auto detect and auto link up, no configuration is needs.
The converter is WDM single core fiber optic connector (transmitting-TX and Receiving -RX are in one fiber cable), and one RJ-45 Jacks and one power supply receptacle. Six LED indicators are built-in for easy diagnosing and monitoring the status of power(PWR), Unshielded Twisted Paired Link/ UTP Activity(TP/ACT), Fiber Link/ Fiber Activity(FX/ACT), Full/Half duplex (FDX) and data rates(1000M) and (100M). It can be configured automatically for Full Duplex or Half Duplex operation.
It is compact, cost-effective, low dissipative, high reliable and stable. It can be used in standalone applications, it is 100~265VAC input, and it is using in pair. The A type is TX1310nm/RX1550nm, the B type is TX1550/RX1310nm.

Interface
RJ-45 interface
The transmission media adopts CAT5 twisted-pair with typical length of 100 meter. It features the function of automatically identifying the through line and cross wire
Fiber interface
SC/LC/ST/FC fiber interface is WDM single core fiber, TX and RX in one fiber. The media converter use by pair, the A(TX1310/RX1550nm) type must connect to B(TX1550/RX1310nm) type.
Connection
The network device (work station, hub or switch) with RJ-45 interface is connected to RJ-45 jack of optical transceiver through twisted-pair. And the multi mode fiber is connected to SC/ST/LC/FC fiber interface of the optical transceiver. The corresponding LED is on for correct connection. (See the table below for the LED indicator lamp)

Application
Installing the Converter
For as a standalone unit:
Verify if the AC-DC adapter conforms to your country AC power requirement then
insert the power plug
Check the type of UTP (see fig.3)
UTP complies with IEEE802.3 Standards, and has two types: T568A T568B.
NOTE: G: Green;O: Orange;B: Blue;P: Palm
Parallel cable: connect T568A to T568A , or T568B to T568B
Crossing-over cable: connect T568A to T568B

Installing
TP port installing
Media converter auto-detect and connect the parallel lines RJ-45 port or the cross lines the RJ-45 port.
Fiber port installing
Connect the fiber-optic transceiver on the media converter with the Single-mode SC/LC/ST/FC fiber connectors, and must using by pair, A type connecting to B type.
Connect to switch power adaptor
Check the appearance that converter instructions light
If connection right, the PWR, TP/ACT and 1000M LED is bright; Otherwise checking the Fiber port and TP port.
