LEDs indicates

Link security using Link Through

The link through signal is used to increase security, when there is an interruption on one side, the converter indicates an interruption on the other side. This means that the equipments always senses whether the entire connection is up.

Example: Two hubs are interconnected using two media converters. If the connection is broken somewhere in the link, the media converter will stop sending link integrity signals. In this way the hubs can sense whether the connection is down or up.
